What Our Customers Say
About Samson's Whitetail Mountain
Our Story
The vision for Samson’s Whitetail Mountain began many years ago with founder Jerry Stafford during his childhood. With a deep love for the outdoors, Jerry started trapping at just seven years old, skinning muskrats and raccoons in his family’s fur shed. As he grew older, that passion evolved into deer hunting and a strong interest in taxidermy.
At age 21, determined to create more natural and realistic mounts, Jerry purchased his first captive deer to closely study whitetail anatomy and posture. The knowledge he gained led him to win first place in a local taxidermy competition, solidifying his passion. Shortly after, Jerry acquired a remarkable deer that would earn the name “Samson” due to its size and musculature. By age five, Samson became the largest whitetail in the United States, scoring an incredible 251 inches, and later achieved the title of the largest whitetail in the world.
Though Samson is no longer with us, his legacy lives on at Samson’s Whitetail Mountain.
